Spiva Center features NYC artist at closing reception
From Spiva reports

The impressive traveling exhibit Graphics by 20th Century Masters from the Cochran Collection comes to a close Sunday, August 28 at Spiva Center for the Arts. Soon the sixty-plus works on paper will be crated and shipped to their next destination on the national tour.
“The show has had an extraordinary run in Joplin,” Spiva director Jo Mueller stated. Popular for its display of works by many famous artists of the 20th century, the exhibit has attracted visitors from 12 states and five foreign countries in its seven-week run at Spiva.
“We’re hoping the public will join us for this last chance to see the exhibit,” Mueller added. Closing day activities include a reception and gallery talk with artist/educator Donita Ellison of the Aesthetic Realism Foundation in New York City.
The Art in the Afternoon seminar “We Begin with Surface – 20th Century Prints from the Cochran Collection” is scheduled for 2:00–4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28.
The gathering is open to the public. Reservations and a $5 contribution at the door are requested. Interested persons may call the center at 417-623-0183 to reserve a seat.
“Joplin was very fortunate to host Graphics by 20th Century Masters,” Mueller noted. The exhibit was sponsored by Debra and David Humphreys and The Friends of St. Avips, the art center’s sister organization.
