On Wednesday, November 16, Spiva Center for the Arts is hosting two presentations by the Missouri Arts Council (MAC), the state's grant-making agency for the arts.

The afternoon MAC Grant Writing Workshop from 3–5 p.m. is intended for staff members, volunteers, and grant writers from nonprofit organizations. MAC presenters will provide current information regarding grant guidelines for FY07 with useful tips for those preparing a competitive applications and financial support materials. Wednesday evening from 7–8:30 p.m. the Missouri Arts Council will hold a Town Hall Meeting, also at Spiva. This event is one of eight town hall meetings being held statewide to solicit input from citizens throughout Missouri as part of the agency’s strategic planning process.

Funded by the Missouri General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Missouri Arts Council provides support for quality arts programming in both large and small communities. The event at Spiva will provide a venue in which the public can exchange ideas and opinions about how MAC can address needs in the Joplin area. Spiva Center for the Arts is located at Third and Wall in downtown Joplin. The Gift Shop and galleries are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 1–5 p.m. Admission is by voluntary contribution.
