Trash and Treasure Fall Cleanup
Saturday, November 19, 9 a.m. to Noon

If you’re an assemblage artist, or someone who’s toyed with the idea… If you know you’d enjoy spending a couple of hours outdoors making a difference… If you’re excited by the opportunity to work with other artists on a large scale, collaborative assemblage project to be unveiled to the public next spring… READ ON for information about a fun morning for artists and others! The attached and the following should explain it, but if you have questions, or want to sign up as a team artist, please call me: 417-623-0183, jmueller@spivaarts.org Thanks!

FW: from Kelli Price, The Joplin Globe

Hello!

Do you have three hours you can spare on Saturday morning, November 19, to help make Joplin shine? The Joplin Globe, City of Joplin, and Spiva Center for the Arts have teamed up to develop and promote a program called Rejuvenate Joplin. Our first project is a Trash & Treasure Fall Cleanup. Below are the nuts & bolts of the event:

Trash and Treasure Fall Cleanup
Saturday, November 19, 9 a.m. to Noon

• Meet at Memorial Hall parking lot at 9 a.m.

• Teams will be assigned an artist and a neighborhood to clean

• Clean neighborhood from 9:30 -–11:30 a.m.

• Return to Memorial Hall parking lot for a FREE lunch

• The team who fills the most trash bags will receive a very special award

Why is it called Trash & Treasure?

An artist will accompany each team and rescue “treasures” from the trash.

Those treasures will be used by the participating artists to create a collaborative assemblage art project that will be displayed in the city next spring

Call or email Kelli Price (ext. 7257) to register your team, or Jo Mueller to register as a consulting, collaborating artist!

FW: From Lynn Onstot, City of Joplin

You may have already heard about this, but just in case you haven’t, I included the introductory letter and an electronic version of the flyer for circulation purposes.

Of course, we'd love to have you participate. The flyer can be used to recruit artists or to create a team, or passed along to others inviting them to create their own team. Either way, I just wanted to help you get the word out about this fun event.

Teams can be of any size, and we'll match you with a feasibly sized area that your group could cover between 9:30 am to 11:30 am. We do encourage you to register though, so we can get some contact information from you, and also know how many people to plan on for lunch. You can register by calling Kelli Price at The Joplin Globe at 627-7257 or email her at kprice@joplinglobe.com She will need a contact name and phone number for your group, as well as the number of team members participating. Upon registration, you will receive more detailed information. Artists should contact Jo Mueller at Spiva, 623-0183 or email her at jmueller@spivaarts.org

Thanks again for your consideration!
