Auction, Rummage & Treasure Sale October 7
To benefit Spiva Center for the Arts
From Spiva reports
9/26/06

Auction, Rummage & Treasure Sale October 7
Memorial Hall in Joplin will be the scene of the third annual Auction, Rummage and Treasure Sale (ARTS) to benefit Spiva Center for the Arts. The sale takes place Saturday, October 7, 8am to 3pm.

The auction of items “too good to go at rummage sale prices” begins as a silent auction, then goes live at 10:00am. Live bidding will begin with the highest bid on the silent auction sheet.

Throughout the sale, parents can drop their kids at the secure “SpivaKidsZone” where children ages 3 and up can make art while parents enjoy 30 minutes of child-free shopping.

“We’re requesting clean, working, gently-used items for the sale, as well as auction items that are too good to go at rummage sale prices,” Director Jo Mueller stated. “Contributing to the ARTS is an opportunity to clear out the clutter and feel good about helping a worthy cause,” she continued. Proceeds from the sale help support exhibits and educational programs the Art Center.

Another reason to donate items to the Spiva sale? Their value is tax-deductible. “We save people the hassle of having their own garage sales and provide a form to document their tax-deductible contributions to Spiva.”

Spiva is accepting donations, large and small—from housewares, knickknacks, sporting goods, books, compact discs and toys to electronics, furniture items, even cars and boats! Items may be purchased at the sale with cash, check, and credit card (Mastercard and Visa only).

Donations for the ARTS event will be accepted by appointment by calling (417) 623-0183 or emailing jmueller@spivaarts.org.

Those interested in volunteering a few hours to help with the sale may also contact Spiva during business hours. Spiva Center for the Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-5pm and Sunday, 1-5pm. Closed Monday. Spiva Center for the Arts is located at Third and Wall in downtown Joplin. Spiva galleries and gift shop are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am–5pm and Sundays, 1–5pm. Admission to the Main Gallery is by voluntary contribution. Suggested donations are $2 for adults, $1 for students. For additional information, please call 417.623.0183.
