Joplin artist Jane Kleindl’s original artwork alludes to the sensual, organic styles of the Art Nouveau and Symbolism movements that flourished at the end of the 19th century. It also references the early psychoanalytic work of Sigmund Freud. Kleindl’s figuratives, still lifes, landscapes, and waterscapes on canvas, stoneware, and porcelain depict mysterious environments that provoke questions about the invisible and deep-seated entities that exist below the visible surfaces.
