Joplin school children to create Halloween mural at Spiva
Joplin Elementary and Middle School students will help paint a Halloween mural at Spiva Center for the Arts this week.

The mural will be displayed at 20th and Stephens Blvd. outside “Haunted Mining Days at The Connor Hotel,” a haunted house fundraiser for Joplin High School’s Project Graduation. According to chairman Phil Harrison, Project Graduation provides a “safe, alternative way of celebrating graduation at the end of the year.”

Harrison stated the group wanted to “give the younger children the chance to get involved and attend a real haunted house for their age group, too."

A special Haunted House for the Elementary Age Children will occur on Halloween, October 31st, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will feature "friendly Halloween characters in the daylight and provide a great experience for the younger children to remember.” Admission is $2 for children; parents are free.

Students in grades 3 through 8 are welcome to work on the mural at Spiva from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday October 9th thru Friday October 12th. For information, please contact Arlie Templeton at Spiva 417.623.0183.

For additional information, please call 417.623.0183.
