One of the more interesting landmarks in Joplin is Grand Falls, the highest natural waterfall in the state of Missouri. The Falls is of interest to geologists because it represents an unusually thick outcrop of Mississippian chert. Located on Shoal Creek, the Falls continues to be a scenic destination.
