27. Junge Field
(1934)
(800 Junge Boulevard)

Construction of Junge Field began in the winter of 1933. The football stadium was named after bread producer August C. Junge. Joplin architect Trueman E. Martinie designed the 50-foot high, 3,500 seat, reinforced concrete structure. With funding from the Work Progress Administration and numerous Joplin businessmen's subscriptions, the $75,000 Spanish Mission-style stadium was dedicated on September 28, 1934.
