30. Joplin Little Theatre
(1938; Local Historical Trail marker on the site)
(First and Adams Streets)

Joplin Little Theatre is one of the oldest continuously operating theatres west of the Mississippi. The first production, “Bertha, the Beautiful Typewriter Girl,” was directed by Marjorie Hunt, who had returned to Joplin after an active career in Hollywood. JLT moved to its new home in November 1946, after members of the Theatre purchased an old riding academy building and an additional twenty lots.
