The Elks Lodge is one of the oldest social, civic, and fraternal organizations in Joplin. Twenty-five businessmen formed the lodge in the spring of 1899. Joplin architect Austin Allen designed the Neoclassical style building. The Elks Building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It now functions as an office building.
