The Scottish Rite Cathedral is a two-story concrete terra-cotta social hall built in the Beaux-Arts style. The Scottish Rite, Valley of Joplin was established on June 18, 1901 with twenty-five members. The $350,000 building was completed and dedicated on February 12, 1923. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
