67. Murray’s Hardware Store

Actually, the Foster & Murray Hardware store didn’t operate at this address until thirty years later. Typical of many of these narrow retail frontages on Main Street, the businesses occupying it changed numerous times. The earliest tenant of this building was O’Neall and Kuhn’s wholesale fruit and produce company. The Joplin Banana Company also operated there. After O’Neall and Kuhn moved to larger quarters on Virginia Avenue, Denton Murray and O.E. Foster opened a hardware store in the building.
