MGA
has something for everyone!
In
this small historic town of 10,000 people the
show is well attended. Each year artists, patrons
and friends from across the country mark their
calendar for this prestigious art gathering.
Entry to the juried show is one piece of original
artwork to be auctioned and a percentage of proceeds
goes to artists and the Midwest Gathering Show.
The auction is the highlight of the evening. The
high seller in the MGA history is an original
titled, Four of a Kind by western artist, Bob
Tommey. It sold for $16,500
in 1992. In 1998, well-known Carthage artist Andy
Thomas's auction art titled, Spirit of the MGA
sold for $15,000.
If you have a love for fine original art, be it
a sculpture of alabaster by Carthage artist Bill
Snow or watercolors by Jerry Ellis, NWS/AWS, you
will be pleased with the quality of all mediums
by local and nationally know artists who attend
this show each year. The quality is unsurpassed.
Subject matter ranges from still life, western,
contemporary, accurately researched historic oil
paintings, sculptures of wildlife, to abstract.
